This 4 hour course is designed for employees with designated Fire Safety responsibilities as Fire Warden and other staff responsible for fire safety.
This course will cover:
- Introduction – The role of the Fire Warden.
- The Law – Background and current legislation.
- What is Fire? – An appreciation of factors affecting the nature of fire, combustion and fire spread.
- Reducing the risk – Raising the profile of Fire Safety awareness amongst employees in order to reduce risk of injury to persons and damage to equipment and premises resulting from fire through:
- Passive fire protection measures
- Fixed fire suppression systems
- Fire detection systems
- Means of escape
- Safety signs
- Fire prevention/arson reduction
- Walkthrough of premises
- Action on outbreak of fire – Understand the management systems within the premises in order to be able to raise the alarm, call the Fire Service and maintain safety.
- Action on hearing alarm – Escape routes, evacuation, assembly point/roll call, re-entry.
- Tackling a fire safely – Know the physical provisions made within the premises to mitigate the effects of fire by:
- classification of fire
- suitable types of extinguishers
- location of fire-fighting equipment
- Review and Close – Including confirmation questionnaire.
Delegates will receive a certificate upon successful completion of this course.
